Toys

This one just doesn't look right. Hmm. I couldn't capture the joy Radish has for his new toys. I'll have to work on that.

If you scroll down on the Raptor Cam page, there's a link to an Eagle Cam in Virginia. I was watching when the eaglet hatched on Sunday, and now I am enamored of the little fluffball. It's so cute when it pokes its head up and looks around. Eagle parents are also surprisingly sweet.

Sigh

I didn't jet on up to Seattle to try to participate in the viral marketing, even though it was after school. I-5, especially at rush hour, is not my idea of fun. I know a bunch of people got to see the new trailer...without me. I'll have to wait until it goes online Sunday. In the meantime I can amuse myself here, thinking of lamb chops and sitting ducks. And waiting, dutifully not looking at the bootlegs online, for this to go live.
There's an order to shooting the ducks that actually leads you to happy trails....
Radish will be back soon. He's plotting how to best use his new toys.

It's All Part of the Plan

I guess that whole "brain addled" thing was more about my sore throat and fever than too much testing, although too much testing no doubt didn't help matters any. So I'm home sick today.

Before I go back to napping, here's the Radish plan for the day, and also the latest TDK site, which leads to the newest poster and is also counting down...I hope to the new trailer. T-minus 3 days. New trailer Monday?
ETA Those presidential pictures at the site linked above now have instructions for the start of a new scavenger hunt (I assume) for Monday. The Seattle one is set for Victor Steinbrueck Park. Should be interesting. Too bad I have to work.

Microforks

Poor, poor Lima Bean.
Another Dark Knight Viral campaign is underway...Operation Slipknot. I'm behind the curve on this one. Too much testing: Brain addled.

Test Dummy

Today's title has more than one meaning.

Just 3 things to say

1. Pleeeeeeeease make it stop being winter in the Pacific Northwest! Snow? Hail? Miniature snowball showers...? This isn't Colorado! Where're the gentle April showers? Where's the sun?
2. Migraines suck.
3. Go look at this (unless you're squeamish about dead bird parts or super anal about a clean nest): Portland's Raptorcam I got to see the chicks getting fed earlier today. Way cool.

There should be a new Radish up tomorrow. I managed to come up with a few ideas while my kids were vegetating, um, I mean reading and checking out books during our library time today. I should be able to get them inked while the kids are testing.

}cough{Hideout!}cough{

I thought I'd have time to maybe sketch out some Red Radish strips while proctoring the big test this week, but instead found I was too busy trying to keep the early-finishers from disrupting the take-their-timers. Nothing like having a student cough "Hurry up!" while others are writing away diligently. And even though I've been giving this test for, what, 10 years now, I had again forgotten how incredibly exhausting it is just to give, not to mention surviving the afternoons with test-weary students who are climbing the walls. So Radish suffered. Meanwhile, Garlic finds the perfect lair behind a tall fence and under a mound of ivy.

Also thanks for the shout-out, Geektress girls! I hope NY Comic Con is fun. I'm actually planning to go to the Emerald City ComiCon this year. It should be an adventure! And I'll be getting back to you about the Batman storylines. I find I really have to pay attention to Grant Morrison's story or I'll miss something I need to know later on.

Next week: More of the dreaded state test. Blech.

Where Can I Get a Can of Goo String?

Didn't you just know Garlic had a pink phone?...and Pear reads Superman comics?

Wish us all well, folks. Tomorrow we embark on two weeks of the dreaded state test. May our scores climb at least somewhat. The pressure is on!

The Alternative to Goat

Those grapes really seem to want to avoid bringing in Goat. What do you suppose happened last time Insalataville encountered Goat?

Almost True Scenes from Garlic's Teaching Career

This is Mr. Potatobrains: a student who, thankfully, I usually only have twice a month for an advisory group. A student who, yesterday, did exactly what Mr. Potatobrains is doing in the illustration, only I couldn't illustrate the defiant mumbling and the arguing with the simplest of directions. This is not the easiest group of kids and often they follow Mr. Potatobrains' example, but yesterday even the other students had had enough. So when I told Mr. Potatobrains to go next door for the rest of the half hour and he argued with me, the rest of the class was just, like, "Just get out Mr. Potatobrains!"
How hard is it to put your feet on the floor and just write 3 goals for how you want to do on the dreaded state test? The 8th graders next door laughed at him for getting kicked out of a half-hour of class. I hope he was at least somewhat chastened.
And thankfully Mr. Potatobrains will be spending his 18 hours of testing time not in my classroom, or the whole cleaver fantasy may have become much more of a temptation and I would be posting Radish from the state prison and probably minus the weaponry.
Disclaimer: I certainly would never harm a student, and the use of a cleaver aimed at Mr. Potatobrains' head is purely fiction. I, of course, not actually being Garlic, put up with all kinds of lovely behavior displayed by several fine specimens in the classroom, because that's what teachers do. Man! I've edited this post a bazillion times now.

Dent's campaign takes a step forward

Assistant DA Rachel Dawes believes in Harvey Dent. Check out her press conference responding to the CCfaBG allegations that Dent is crooked!

Also, that darn Justice League movie will not die. Aaaaaurgh. Such a stupid move! Not the right time. Seriously, put out some other single hero movies first! Green Lantern? Flash? Wonder Woman? A better Superman movie with any other villain than Lex? What are they thinking? This is going to be terrible. If they want to make money, then go for quality! Get real actors. A solid script. Please.

Uh Oh

But wait...Dr. Orange is good, right?

Dr. Orange

I think the Insalataville Labs panel is one of my favorites. I can't believe this one turned out the way I saw it in my head. I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.

It's the last day of Spring Break. I managed to pretty much fritter it all away. I did a lot of lounging, I have Radish drawn/drafted for the next 3 installments, I finished knitting a scarf and started knitting a tote for my Pilates mat, I cut out a bunch of stuff (that I hope actually gets sewn) while watching Season 1 of Smallville again, and of course, I mowed the rest of my lawn. But tomorrow is back to teenage wasteland. 3rd quarter ends on Friday, which means grades are due. And next week we start the dreaded 2 weeks of state testing. Why is vacation so short?

Uproar

Apparently there has been some Goat experience in this community. Is it worth letting a super-villain free to take care of the menace that is the Red Radish and Garlic? I think when they did it on Superman: The Animated Series, it didn't really work out very well. But on Justice League Unlimited the villains were helpful versus Darkseid--after they unleashed him.

btw Mayor Peach was hard to color...and if you visited earlier, he was quite different. I'm happier now.

Think, Think, Think

Garlic fascinates me. Also, who would've thought Radish would have such pretty mugs?

Thursday, April 3, 2008

Where's Pearil?

Ah ha! A bunch of grapes = hundreds of sedative-tipped darts. Also, now we know why the garbage was so noxious.

Secret Ingredients

Ha! Do you suppose Nightwing's goo is made with pine sap and Ranch?

Probably not.

SWAT Q&....

So, is the grape SWAT incompetent, or was Red Radish able to conceal himself in the trash? What do you think? And how effective can tranquilizer darts blown out of straws small enough for a grape actually be?

Search and....

The grapes of...trash?

BOF reports the Clown Travel Agency scavenger hunt involves bowling alleys. I was wondering what the combinations were for (I thought maybe bus stations). This time it's bowling balls and cell phones as the prize. Nothing's going to beat the cellphone-in-the-cake hunt, though.
btw--Here's a Gotham blog....Maiden Avenue Report.
